BAM!
I named this month for me BAM ( Birthday, Anniversary & Mother's Day). Do you have a month named after you 😂
LISTEN to my note above 👆🏼
BELOW is included in my audio 👇🏽
@theartistsagainstantisemitism has created a virtual gallery for the First Annual Yom HaShoah Community Arts Project. 100 works of art created by artists from all backgrounds and across all mediums to celebrate and honor the resiliency of the Jewish people. Thank you to some of my friends who donated their artwork and time to this project. My piece and my story are part of it in this piece I wrote above 👆🏼
The gallery will be open throughout this month to commemorate Yom HaShoah #HolocaustRemembranceDay and #JewishAmericanHeritagemonth. Check out the full 🔗 here. This is the second project initiated by the #ArtistsAgainstAntisemitism, an organization whose mission is to raise awareness of antisemitism, promote education about Jewish history and culture, help those experiencing Jewish hate to fight against it, and work to help build a kinder, brighter, more understanding future within the arts.
I have spent my career bringing voices and communities together. We learn from one another and many times we might not agree but what we all do agree on is to stop hate in all its forms.
Many of my family members were killed in the Holocaust on my father’s side. This piece I wrote is about finding a suitcase when I first entered Auschwitz and seeing my maiden name on a suitcase in the window of the 1000000 suitcases in the museum.
Join me in lighting a candle 🕯️ for the 11 million killed in the Holocaust. 6 million were Jews. NEVER FORGET.
