Hello from ✈️ Barcelona ✈️ Naples ✈️ Germany and ✈️ Barcelona again!
If you believe that you’re unstoppable, you’ll own the risks you take and keep moving, learning, and building.
Hola, I cannot believe it is a year since the pub date of my book EMBRACING THE CALM IN THE CHAOS and I am writing to you from Barcelona. In the last chapter of my book, I wrote this on page 129, “Life is a marathon, not a sprint. You have to focus on what’s in front of you and remain in your own lane, at least most of the time. It’s taken me a while to recognize that “success” comes in many forms. There are people who started out when I did who are now billionaires and there are also people who are no longer in business. My business is somewhere in between, but much more important, I feel wildly successful as a human being. I’m excited to go to work every day, which is now in my home again, in the park, out in Secaucus, New Jersey, and anywhere else in between. I love the people in my orbit, and I have an outlet to do the things that make me feel good about myself and the world I will leave behind for my son. I feel pretty freakin’ rich, to be honest, and I’m completely content with where I am as a business leader and as a mother. I also know that the future holds an incredible number of exciting opportunities for BOY MEETS GIRL®—more partnerships, collaborations, endless licensing, and giving back to communities in need.”
Upon landing in Barcelona on March 3rd, I swiftly transitioned into meetings with my global teams from India, Bangladesh, Spain, Porto, Pakistan, and beyond. Returning to Europe after a hiatus due to COVID-19, I felt exhilarated, reminiscing about my previous trips where I launched collaborations in Finland and Paris.
Feeling invigorated, I reveled in the presence of my international teams, relishing discussions on global business dynamics. Our meeting with a major European retailer was a success. Stay tuned for further updates in the upcoming months. Following our productive meetings, I indulged in the local culture and cuisine before departing for Naples, Italy, where I had additional meetings scheduled with my licensing team the following day. As a bonus, I had the pleasure of catching up with my nephew, who is currently studying abroad in Barcelona, and my father who traveled with me as my “body guard 😂.”
Below is the schedule that followed my arrival in Barcelona, along with the additional flights I've taken since then:
March 3rd: Arrival in Barcelona, meetings with global teams as noted above.
March 4th: Flew to Naples Italy ( flew to Naples from Barcelona).
March 5th: Meetings with a major European store in Naples. Loved meeting the teams and learning about their stores and business models and looking forward to working with all of them! And yes the Pizza was out of this world.
March 6th: Departed Naples and flew to Munich, then proceeded to Dusseldorf, Germany for meetings on March 7th. March 7th: Drove to a town in Germany where our meetings were held, approximately an hour and a half away from our accommodation. As with all our previous meetings, we were warmly welcomed by all the teams with incredible hospitality. Thank you!
After concluding our meetings, my European licensing team drove me back to the airport in Dusseldorf. From there, I flew to Amsterdam before finally returning to Barcelona once again! Since departing New York City on March 3rd, this journey marks my 6th flight in total! As I stepped into my first retailer meeting in Italy, I was struck by a door bearing a simple yet profound message: "The only way to do GREAT WORK is to LOVE what you do!" This sentiment perfectly encapsulates my approach to business. Whether you've been following my journey for two decades or are new to my world, you understand the depth of my passion for what I do. It's not always easy, but when you love what you do, challenges feel more like opportunities. Even after over 20 years in the industry, I wake up each day with the same excitement and enthusiasm. I'll be sharing more about my Fabric baby and its global expansion soon. Thank you for the incredible meetings and to my hardworking teams around the globe. xo Stacy
