I have opened this email up 10000+ times and then closed it right back up. If you follow me on @stacyigel instagram and @stacyigel Twitter you have seen my updates and my posts on the current state of the war in Israel & Gaza since the terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7th, 2023, and ways you can help Israelis and Palestinians.
I wrote this message for my brand BOY MEETS GIRL® on this post
“Oh, how we yearn for peace over war!
We've always been a brand about conversations - ones that encompass individuals from diverse backgrounds, races, and genders - and that may be uncomfortable at times. But when we engage in dialogue and learn about one another, we discover commonalities and ways to unite, even when our views may not fully align.
The current state of Israel and Palestine is a deeply complicated and sensitive issue for both sides. It is a region marked by a history of conflict and often competing narratives stemming from cultural, historical, and political differences. We recognize the pursuit of peace and a resolution to this complex and horrific situation continues to be a global concern and we pray for a peaceful and lasting solution.
OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO THE FAMILIES AND LOVED ONES OF THOSE WHO PERISHED OR WERE HARMED AND ARE IN HARM'S WAY. WE STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE CONDEMN TERRORISM.
Our commitment as a brand, to continue fostering these vital conversations, remains unwavering, even in the face of challenges.
Wishing PEACE and SAFETY for all innocent Israelis & Palestinians. ”
Important Reads I am sharing below:
Here is an article written by my friend
which I feel every educator should read right now and every HUMAN who believes in HUMANITY should too.Sari Beth Rosenberg has been teaching U.S. History and AP U.S. History at a New York City public high school for nearly 22 years. She co-hosts the PBS NewsHour Classroom Educator Zoom series and the Grifty Podcast. She often writes social studies curriculum and lessons for the New York City Department of Education. Rosenberg has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Reuters, CNN, NBC News, and many other outlets. She co-founded Teachers Unify Against Gun Violence and is a senior advisor for Voters of Tomorrow.
This newsletter by my friend
“How it Feels to be Jewish Right Now” is also an important read. This interview by Anderson Cooper on my family friends whose son was captured by Hamas is a must watch.
PLEASE BRING HOME THE HOSTAGES!
I find myself with a multitude of thoughts and emotions, filling up countless notebooks with words that attempt to make sense of it all. Navigating these complex feelings is challenging, especially when I'm faced with tough questions from my nine-year-old son while witnessing the tragic fate of young, innocent civilians who are kidnapped or killed. How do you share such heart-wrenching realities with a child? The pain extends far beyond our family; it's a collective anguish that binds us all in some way. You may not be Jewish or Palestinian, but chances are you know someone who is or someone who knows someone.
In these times of sorrow and sadness, it's tough to keep moving forward. We often feel helpless, overwhelmed by the desire to help, help, help, help, help. The disturbing rise of anti-Semitism, anti-Muslim sentiments, and hate is a concerning reality, and it's enough to make anyone want to scream – if you care about humanity!
As I write this, I'm aware that it's the most challenging newsletter I've ever penned. The lines below this paragraph are meant to share information about my upcoming Book Tour, and it feels almost wrong to do so amidst the turmoil that surrounds us. However, I've always held the belief that we must keep moving forward, and that's precisely what I intend to do.
Tomorrow I will be in Connecticut! I have never been to New Canaan, CT, have you? Excited to see you at Elm Street Book Store. Check out the details here.
November 2nd join me at the Cause Marketing Summit!
I have put wishes in my wish wall for all of you at this time. Please keep wishing and praying for the innocent victims and hostages at this time.
XO,
STACY
