News Break.
I got my wisdom tooth extracted last week on the left side as it was impacted and the news is it is awful. I usually am positive Polly and power through pain but this one is really painful and so I am taking a lot of ibuprofen and other stuff so I can eat. In some ways, I am getting the summer diet we have all been dreaming of lol! I have continued to push myself but also give myself a moment of rest and icing when I really need it!
WELLNESS (Just heard it was International Self- Care Day)
I had the opportunity to cover the founder of AMEŌN here —> On the Chair with Alina Pimkina Mehrle, Co-founder of AMEŌN. This image was shot by my dear friend and frequent collaborator Sophie Elgort (she is also featured in my book) for our Thriver campaign. I love Alina’s Frozen products especially right now when it helps heal my puffy cheeks and I love what she has built. Check it out in my feature above and here.
EXCERPT FROM BOOK EMBRACING THE CALM IN THE CHAOS,
CHAPTER 10 STAY CURRENT ( Page 97-98)
“As luck would have it, while we were planning the show, my friend Patricia Velásquez Semprún, a Venezuelan actress and model, hosted a dinner for her charity, The Wayuu Taya Foundation and I was seated with Wyclef Jean. Not one to pass up an opportunity like that, I asked Wyclef if he’d perform at the show in addition to up-and-comers Cris Cab and Jarina De Marco, whom I’d already recruited. I was ecstatic when he said yes and asked him to sing his version of the song “Forever Young,” which we named the show after. This is proof positive that when you want something, you have to go after it, even if you think it’s a long shot. Given my mission for the brand, I wanted to give back to others with this massive New York Fashion Week undertaking and had been working with the Lower Eastside Girls Club, an organization that amplifies the inner power of young women and gender-expansive youth in New York City through their free and innovative programs in STEM, Arts, Digital Media and Sound, Wellness, Civic Engagement, and Leadership. The actress, producer, and activist Rosario Dawson, with whom I’d been friends for a few years, was on the board there, and she approached me to join forces with them. So, I came up with the idea to work with thirty of the Lower Eastside Girls Club students, roughly ages sixteen to eighteen, who’d come and shadow every aspect of what we were doing for the show. This would give them an opportunity to be part of something they wouldn’t normally have access to. We assigned two girls to shadow the photographers, ten girls backstage with hair and makeup teams, and a few to be with Wyclef, Cris, and Jarina. Some of the kids helped seat the guests, others assisted the public relations team, and one tagged along with me. I loved working with Rosario Dawson, as our missions were so aligned. Like me, she believes that “curiosity, kindness, excitement, and compassion can exist in creativity. Whatever your values are, they should be part of everything you do.” Just because business is typically about turning a profit doesn’t mean that there aren’t other essential aspects to growing your brand.”

BOOK SUGGESTIONS
Today after I dropped of Dylan at camp, I ran to Thompson Central Park to celebrate my friend Lara founder of Pretty Connected who wrote a Children’s book about her dog Charlie. Her book is out now for pre-order. I am very proud of her. Once I got there we got dressed in our walking shoes thanks to Merrell and were then led on a special walk with our mutual friend Jennifer Walsh. It was a very special morning celebrating with dear friends.
BARBIE MOVIE.
It is all the rage and I really want to see it. Just have not had the time yet. Have you?
