Happy New Year! I thought I would start off my 2024 newletter with a little humor because I do believe the best medicine in life is a good laugh. I have a quote on my desk that reads, “keep smiling it makes people wonder what you have been up too.” So do not forget to keep that smile : )
Last year I wrote over 100+ newsletters while also releasing my first book Embracing the Calm In The Chaos, running my brand BOY MEETS GIRL® and being a MOM and now also a dog mom (grateful for all of it). I think you all know by now the energy of being busy and doing what I love keeps me Calm in the midst of Chaos.
I will continue to bring you content ranging from 20+ years running a brand, blog, podcast, and more. I love bringing you content. I will continue to give you updates on my book #EMBRACINGTHECALMINTHECHAOS and tips about business. I will share interviews with those in my book along with other interviews with incredible humans. I will also be doing giveaways and sharing my love for Fashion, Entrepreneurship, Art, Music, Books, Travel, Motherhood, Web 3, and much more.
So now onto … Mob Wife Aesthetic
Late one night, as I scrolled through my feeds, I stumbled upon a new trend—Mob Wife Aesthetic. Now, I'm not one to typically follow trends, which might seem odd given my role in the fashion industry. However, if you've read my book, you'll know that I've always been about setting trends rather than just following them.
The trend had caught my attention, boasting over 60 million views on TikTok. It got me thinking—cool, interesting, and a trip down memory lane. Before delving into the articles and posts about the trend, I recalled a time when VH1 introduced a series called MOB WIVES, running from 2011 to 2016.
During that period, while I was busy with New York Fashion Week shows and events for my web series featured on MTVu and Lockerz (who had exclusive rights to BEHIND THE SEAMS WITH STACY IGEL), something extraordinary happened. Not only were the New York Housewives and New Jersey Housewives (unaffiliated with organized crime) big fans of my creations, but the Mob Wives also showed immense support. They turned up in droves to celebrate with me, and this was before I became a mother.
I want to express my gratitude for their unwavering support. Despite differing views on life and the world, we can all come together to love and appreciate a unique fashion and vibe aesthetic, right? So, without further ado, take a peek at the all the Wives who stood by me during those years and check out their distinctive styles (ps if you google more there are tons more images but wanted to give you a snap shot of time). Thank you for your enduring support!
Also, in many of the articles discussing what this vibe means, I wholeheartedly agree with this perspective: “It’s more of an attitude.”
If you missed my BTS wrap party it was covered here by Guest of Guest.
If you missed this show called #invasionnyfw starting the late Leah Labelle (RIP) and feautring Gia Guidice walking down the runway. Check it out below.
