Saturday night I walked into the Shou Sugi Ban House in the Hamptons as part of the Zibby Retreat as I was one of the Female Author’s of the night and stumbled ok gasped at this tablescape and almost cried.
When I was preparing ideas for my book tour I would go on the wild world of the internet and pin imagery of backyard parties with beautiful long tables. I would pin and pin and save pins into a folder called “Future Summer Book Tour Goals.” And there it was shining even brighter than all those images I had pinned!
You all have been part of my book tour and I have traveled to magical places and held the most beautiful events which I will be forever grateful for but this was my first outdoor dinner event which was not planned by me or my team. This was planned by Zibby Owens (if you missed Zibby’s interview with me on her podcast link here) and her amazing team on the retreat.
Everything about this table gave off beautiful vibes. It truly was this author's dream. And when I say I feel blessed I really do.
Not only was it magical but the flowers were not tall which made for no distraction to the incredible conversation that happened around this magical table.
Everyone who joined this night was just as excited as me to be there and contribute to the evening. Zibby had me and Author Allie Frank ( her new book with Asha Youmans called The Better Half link here is #1 on Amazon in Women’s Fiction Divorce) speak about our worlds and our books. I loved meeting Allie and learning about her and her writing partner. Thank you Zibby for joining us together.
The night continued with an amazing meal and cocktails as well as conversation. Zibby asked everyone who was there to go around the table and introduce themselves. Zibby and I are on the same page about community and like me, she does not look at anyone as more important than you. She values community and lets everyone shine. This was my first Author’s retreat as a featured Author and as a person attending a retreat. If I had all the time in the world I would go to every Zibby retreat.
I loved seeing old editor friends and my own friends as well as making new friends. It was as beautiful as this tablescape. Thank you Zibby, Shou Sugi Ban House, and the team!
