Recently, life seems to be moving at an ever-accelerating pace. Since the onset of Covid-19, I've consciously tried to carve out moments for myself and my family. However, sometimes we find ourselves caught in the whirlwind of tasks and obligations. Yet amidst this hustle, I've come to realize the importance of pausing, taking a breath, and cherishing each day as it comes—like the unexpected joy of a snow day yesterday that shut down all NYC schools, allowing a moment of pure appreciation and the privilege to take time away from work to sled with my son.
Reflecting, I realized I neglected to share a special moment from early January: my book stop in West Palm Beach. It was an intimate affair, where my son Dylan delivered a heartfelt speech, and my loved ones, along with guests from the private club hosting the event, engaged in meaningful conversations. We even embarked on a unique activity, inspired by Dylan's words: designing coasters with each attendee writing down a word that brings them calm amidst chaos.
The presence of Barnes and Noble, selling my books, and the support of a newfound author friend from our founding authors group Artists Against Antisemitism, added to the day's magic. I'm deeply grateful to Debbie Fischer for making the journey to support me—an embodiment of the spirit of Authors Supporting Authors.
Authors Supporting Authors continues with a shout-out to
on your anniversary of Zibby’s Book Shop in Santa Monica! I was lucky to make a stop on my book tour on 03/30/23 there and be in conversation with my BFF actor, writer, and director Ike Barinholtz who graces the pages of my book. Infusing the atmosphere with my signature NYFW party vibe, Zibby remarked, “No one has done a book party like this before,” leaving us on a positive note. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and being among the first authors to bring this energy to her store fills me with pride. I commend Zibby and her dedicated team for the remarkable success of Zibby’s Book Shop. Running a business, especially in the retail sector, is no small feat, and their achievements are truly commendable. In honor of this milestone, they're hosting a weekend celebration from 11 am - 2 pm this coming Saturday and Sunday, 2/17 and 2/18. Though I can't be there in person, my heart is with them as they mark this special occasion. (Details here.)If you missed me on Zibby’s podcast check it out here.
