I returned to school on July 5th. Last summer, I was invited by my dear friend Claudine De Sola, who is also featured in my book Embracing The Calm In The Chaos, to speak @barnardcollege for the summer classes she leads. We had so much fun last summer that I came back to lead two classes. This is work I’ve been doing with @boymeetsgirlu for 15+ years, and I love it.
I had a blast 💥. As you know, paving it forward and #youthculture is @boymeetsgirlusa’s jam. What made today very special was being there with some of my OGs. @thomasconcordia, who captured this badass photo, has shot me on 100 red carpets, tons of my #nyfw shows, and my author photo you’ve seen all over. He also leads a class this summer—how lucky are these students? Also, I got to see @thevaleriestar, who is assisting @yeohleeny, and spoke to their class. Val has been part of so many of my campaigns over the years with Claudine doing hair and makeup. It was a very special day being there with all.
**Takeaways:**
- Everyone loves the OGs; what is old is new again.
- @natashabedingfield, I asked two classes if they knew who you were. The first class was like yasssss—they knew you from the latest movie your song is in and were so excited to hear you performed at my first solo NYFW! The other class was excited to learn about you 😂.
- Both classes knew @nina’s famous mug shot in #BOYMEETSGIRL and have seen it all over TikTok. They all have this shirt.
- Lorelei aka @laurengraham from @gilmoregirls in @boymeetsgirlusa and they all have this shirt.
- And of course, the @gossipgirl OG #boymeetsgirl #believe tote that led to @bloomingdales selling these in their accessory department. These bags now are vintage and people are selling them on eBay and Poshmark. We might need to bring them back.
I guess I am vintage and vintage is cool 😎. Thank you to all the students who asked smart questions. Thank you to the students who contributed with your ideas for making this world a better place.
Speaking of making this world a better place, I want to share a great resource for future entrepreneurs looking to raise money by
Additionally, I’m excited to share that both of us are connected with Columbia College in Chicago. I had the privilege of contributing as a brand teacher for a class called “Concept to Creation” throughout the year.
